First Friday in Lincoln

Star City Strings is founded by two musicians who both studied at Boston University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, but not at the same time! Rebecca Vieker and Korynne Bolt effectively switched places, completing different degrees at each school. Now they both reside in Lincoln and provide world-class music for weddings and other special events. At Indigo Bridge, they will perform a variety of selections from popular music genres.

LSO and the Lincoln Youth Symphony perform side-by-side to open the season finale with the prelude from Wagner’s opera Die Meistersinger. Next, soprano Janice Chandler-Eteme joins LSO for the achingly beautiful Vier letzte Lieder (Four Last Songs) of Strauss. The second half takes the audience on a dramatic Wagnerian journey with overtures from Lohengrin and Tannhauser, and the rapturous “Prelude and Liebestod” from Tristan und Isolde. The concert closes with the famous and victorious Ride of the Valkyries.
