Studio Info

The Star City Strings studio is located in the Southwood neighborhood of Lincoln, NE. Students have access to weekly individual lessons, monthly group classes, and multiple performance opportunities each semester. For more detailed information about lessons, please use the contact form on the left to help me get to know you!

You may choose to do 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons per week. We offer a family discount for siblings, and we use a convenient online scheduling and billing system. Contact us today to book your initial trial lesson!

Maria Serrano, Violin and Viola

Maria Serrano is a violin player with a wide background as a performer and teacher. She studied a BM in violin performance in her home country, Colombia, at the Central University. Maria has been an active chamber and orchestra performer, member of the Central University Orchestra, Bogotá Metropolitan Orchestra, Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra and Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra.

 

While in Colombia, Maria gained experience
as a violin instructor under “El Sistema” and “Suzuki” philosophies. In 2019, Maria moved to Cedar Falls – IA, to pursue a Master Degree in violin performance, under the guidance of the violinist Steve Sang Koh, and where she graduated in May of this year. At the University of Northern Iowa, Maria was awarded with Full Scholarship and Assistantship, which give her the opportunity of working as a violin instructor at the Music School, and as a Concert Master of the school’s orchestra.

 

Now, located in Lincoln NE, Maria wishes to put all her knowledge and experience at the service of the
community, while sharing and spreading her love for music.

Korynne Bolt, Cello and Piano

Studio Owner

Korynne Bolt started playing the cello at age 5 and earned a Master of Music degree in 2016. Since 2010, she has taught private lessons in a variety of settings, including:

  • Intensive Community Program of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras

  • Festival Fellow at the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine

  • Adjunct faculty at Southeast Community College, NE

  • Instructor at another string studio in Lincoln, NE 

  • Chamber music coach for Omaha Area Youth Orchestras

 

Korynne's students have successfully auditioned for ensembles such as the Youth Ensemble of Strings, Junior Youth Orchestra, Lincoln Youth Symphony, and SAIL Camp Honors Orchestra. Former students have won high school concerto competitions, earned a place in the All-State Orchestra, and gone on to major in music at UNL and other colleges.

Korynne is a 2020 graduate of the Global Leaders Program, a graduate certificate in social entrepreneurship that brought her to Chile to perform and teach. She is also a member in good standing of the Music Teachers' National Association, Nebraska String Teachers' Association, and a trained Suzuki instructor. Read her full bio here.
